INTERVIEW WITH MEMORY OF A MELODY

onors of communicating with Wade Sigue, lead guitarist for the band Memory of a Melody.  Hailing from the city once dubbed “Heavy Metal Capitol of the World,” San Antonio, TX-based, Memory of a Melody draws its power from the Metal Gods to hammer out modern rock music with ferocity and allure.  Echoing Magazine:  Please introduce yourself:  My name is Wade Sigue. I'm a Libra and I enjoy long walks on the beach and sipping cocktails on dark and stormy nights. I also play lead guitar and do backup vocals for Memory of a Melody and my first statement contains two truths and a lie.  Echoing Magazine:  Who is Memory of a Melody? And how did you all come about?  Wade Sigue:  Memory of a Melody is really just 5 dudes who met through playing in the San Antonio/South Texas music scene, became friends, and decided to start playing music together.  Echoing Magazine:  Memory of a Melody has been in hiatus for a few years.  What encouraged you to put out the new EP "Burn Alive"? Wade Sigue:  It really came about very naturally. More than anything, having time apart from the band and still being able to stay connected with each other on a more human level, instead of just dudes in a band together, I think made it easy to be open to the idea of picking back up where we left off before the hiatus.  We had already begun working on new music for what we thought, at the time, would be the next full length album so when we came to that stopping point, there was definitely some unfinished business. In fact, the first single off the new EP is a song called "Mary Go Round" that we originally started recording in 2013.  Echoing Magazine:  The first single released is "Mary Go Round".  Can you tell us a little about what that song is about?  Wade Sigue:  "Mary Go Round" is a song that could mean different things to different people. Mario (our singer) and I co-wrote the lyrics to "Mary Go Round" and I'm almost certain that they have different meanings, even to the two of us. We started writing that song in 2013, and the lyrics have a different meaning to me now than they did when we wrote them so I'd be more interested in hearing what other people think it's about than deciding for them. Echoing Magazine:  Does Memory of a Melody have any videos in the works?  Wade Sigue: Yes! We actually had dates to shoot music videos for "Mary Go Round" and the title track from the EP "Burn Alive" but with the COVID-19 situation, we had to postpone that. In the meantime however, we are going to be putting out lyric videos for all three songs.  Final FULL LENGTH Teaser! What are you all doing to keep yourself and your fans entertained?  Wade Sigue:  A lot of drinking and Mario Kart. Haha. I'm kidding but I'm not. Actually, we've been doing "Fan Fridays" on Facebook on Friday evenings in the months of April and May where people can sit back and watch us throw back a couple of cold ones and chat it up with anybody who wants to spend time with us online. It's a pretty good time.  Echoing Music:  What words of encouragement do you have for other musicians?  Wade Sigue: Play. Play your heart out and enjoy it every chance you get. One day is going to be the last time you ever play and you may not know when that day comes until it's already behind you.  Echoing Music:  We thank you for your time.  And before we end this interview, where can we find your music?  Wade Sigue: www.memoryofamelody.com as well as just about any place else that music can be found.  "Burn Alive" is now available for streaming on SPOTIFY .  A special thanks going out to: Bryan Scott who produced Drums and Rhythm Guitars and to Todd "Taz" Anthony Osterhouse at Blue Oceam Music for the mixing, enginerring and digital editing of "Burn Alive" And thank you Echoing Music Magazine for the love and support!!
